At the time of its completion 2009, Brookwood Condominiums was Atlanta’s only high-rise condominium project built with the environment in mind and to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards.  Brookwood Condominiums is located in Midtown near the Brookwood train station. Part of its amenities package includes a rooftop garden located on the third floor. As a LEED development, all irrigation water is reclaimed, recycled, and reused through a reservoir located underneath the building. The soil and plants had to be lifted to the third floor by crane.  The garden’s focal point is a 10″ caliper Japanese Maple. Since the rooftop could not handle the weight of equipment to move the Maple, SKB’s crew had to move the tree using a pallet jack.
